The 8-Channel Multiplexer/Demultiplexer (CWDM-MUX-8A) allows you to multiplex/demultiplex eight separate channels into one pair of fiber. Dual fiber is used for both the network connection and the CWDM GBIC or CWDM SFP transceiver connections. The eight available wavelengths are 1470-nm, 1490-nm, 1510-nm, 1530-nm, 1550-nm, 1570-nm, 1590-nm, and 1610-nm. The multiplexer/demultiplexer, is equipped with a monitor port that allows you to attach a power meter or an optical spectrum analyzer to assist you in monitoring and troubleshooting the network
The Cisco EtherSwitch service modules provide Cisco modular access routers the ability to stack Cisco EtherSwitch service modules as Layer 2 switches using Cisco StackWise technology. The Cisco EtherSwitch service modules are supported by either the IP base image (formerly known as standard multilayer image (SMI)) or the IP services image (formerly known as the enhanced multilayer image (EMI)). The IP base provides Layer 2+ features, including access control lists (ACLs), quality of service (QoS), static routing, and the Routing Information Protocol (RIP). IP services provide a richer set of enterprise-class features, including Layer 2+ features and full Layer 3 routing (IP unicast routing, IP multicast routing, and fallback bridging). To distinguish it from the Layer 2+ static routing and RIP, IP services include protocols such as the Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) and the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol.
This CWDM OADM is passive device that can multiplex/demultiplex or add/drop wavelengths from multiple fibers onto one optical fiber. The OADM connectors are interfaced to the color-matching CWDM GBIC or CWDM SFP transceivers on the equipment side. Single-wavelength OADM are equipped with two channels traveling different network paths (east and west) to offer redundancy or protection in rings.
