The Cisco 1000BASE-T Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) is an ideal solution for Catalyst ® 6500, 4000, 3550, 2950, 3500 XL and 2900 XL Series switch customers, providing full duplex Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to high-end workstations and between wiring closets over existing copper network infrastructures. This GBIC technology leverages the industry’s flexible, standards-based 1000BASE-X design, allowing for a simple and low-cost migration path to Gigabit Ethernet. There are two key product applications for the Cisco 1000BASE-T GBIC: connectivity to high-end workstations and distribution and wiring closet interconnectivity.
The QFX5200 fixed-configuration access switch is ideally suited for leaf deployments in nextgeneration IP fabric networks. It features line-rate, high-density QSFP+/QSFP28 ports that support 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, 50GbE, and 100GbE connections. Offering an advanced L2, L3, and MPLS feature set, network operators can use the QFX5200 to build large, high-density IP fabrics that support upgrades to 25GbE servers, network virtualization, and intelligent traffic forwarding based on proven, Internet-scale technology. GLC-LH-SMD is the 1000BASE-LX/LH SFP for Both Multimode and Single-Mode Fibers. The 1000BASE-LX/LH SFP, compatible with the IEEE 802.3z 1000BASE-LX standard, operates on standard single-mode fiber-optic link spans of up to 10 km and up to 550 m on any multimode fibers.
The industry-standard Cisco Rugged SFP (Mini-GBIC) Transceiver Module is a hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet port or slot, linking the port with the network. SFP can be used and interchanged on a wide variety of Cisco products.
