JNP10003-RE1-R Overview
This Juniper Networks Routing Engine and Control Board redundant router plug-in module is designed for use with the Juniper Networks MX10003 Universal Routing Platform. The Juniper Networks MX10003 is an Ethernet-optimized edge router that provides both switching and carrier-class Ethernet routing. Each router provides full duplex, high-density Ethernet interfaces and high-capacity switching throughput. The MX10003 host subsystem consists of two Routing and Control Boards, or RCBs. The RCB is an integrated board and a single FRU that provides Routing Engine (RE) and Control Board (CB) functionality. You can install one or two RCBs on the router. Install two RCBs for redundant protection. Each RCB functions as a unit and consists of the following: high-performance 1.6-GHz Intel 8 Core X86 CPU, 64-GB DDR4 RAM, and a 100-GB SATA SSD.

The Juniper E3 PIMs are equipped with a dedicated network processor that forwards incoming data packets to the Routing Engine, and receives outgoing data packets from the Routing Engine. During this process, the PIM performs framing and line-speed signaling.

M320-FPC2-E3 Overview
Flexible PIC Concentrators house PICs and connect them to the rest of the PFE. FPCs parse, prioritize, and queue the packets before forwarding them across the midplane to the appropriate destination interface. On egress, FPCs prioritize, queue, re-assemble, and forward packets out through the appropriate port. Up to four PICs can be mixed and matched within a single FPC slot, increasing configuration flexibility and network scalability, while maximizing POP efficiency.
